Guernsey Press

Architects, Offices & Commercial

We overclad and completely modernised a disused industrial shed, which formed part of the Guernsey Press premises. The scheme not only had to deal with tight cost parameters, but also involved the construction to be carried out and occupied in phases as well as ensuring that all aspects of newspaper production were not interrupted. Over 18,000square feet of office space was fully refurbished and its envelope upgraded in 11 months, as well as just under 14,000 square feet of the Press Hall being partially refurbished in the same period. As well as providing a strong visual link between the editorial offices and the press hall, the scheme included a bright new reception area, central daylight circulation “street”, private perimeter offices and a floor-driven energy efficient air conditioning system. We received a Commendation – Contribution to visual environment (RIBA), Town & Country Awards 2006
